Thinking of spring break and want to spend the time in the excitement and wonder of a new culture, while also helping out in a fantastic community of new amigos? Guatemala offers a beautiful wealth of opportunities for middle and high schoolers looking for an unforgettable immersion with locals in a variety of great projects, ranging from animals and medical projects to education and social justice. The focus is on projects with lots of direct interaction and participation – you will not be building something all by yourself but rather working right alongside the folks in the community itself. If there is a particular interest or goal for your spring break, let us work with you one-to-one to identify the most authentic, caring environment where you can be involved for a unique, authentic, and memorable mix of spring break, culture, service, and personal development.

We know, too, that this is your spring break and we can create an itinerary with you that combines lots of extracurricular activities, like hiking volcanoes, visiting ancient Mayan cities, lounging at Lake Atitlan (recently identified by National Geographic as the world’s most beautiful lake), and flying along ziplines above the many ecosystems Guatemala has to offer! With Ceiba, you’ll get your adventure in while contributing your skills, time, ideas, and energy to a grassroots nonprofit project that truly values every moment you are there.

Alternative spring breaks happen in the gorgeous UNESCO World Heritage town of Antigua and/or at National Geographic favorite Lake Atitlan. We want everyone to have access to these experiences and Ceiba offers scholarship opportunities in addition to very low base costs for all trips. Because we are local to Guatemala, we enjoy very strong relationships with the most trusted and safest travel companies, accommodations, and guides. Your spring break is tailored to your needs, schedule, requests, and goals – no Ceiba trip is the same as the next and everything is created with your input. From beginning to end, your time in Guatemala is our first priority!
